Namesto bogatih zavarovalnic, trgovcev z avtomobili in njihovo opremo in še koga ...

Final meeting of Swiss Contribution

20140328 zakljucno-srecanje-svicarskega-prispevkaAt the end of Swiss Contribution in Slovenia a meeting of all projects, co-financed by Swiss Contribution, with representatives of Swiss Development Agency, Swiss Embassy, Ministry of Economic Development and Technology. The purpose of the meeting was the presentation of projects' achievements. Also Lutra Instiute joined the event and presented project STOPJEŽ - Traffic and Animals. Although the project is finished, we are looking for new financial possibilites that would enabkle us the continuation of the project. Nevertheless the project website is still active and you can still enter data on noticed road kills into roadkill database.

Safety vests for volunteers in Boreci

20140326-boreciAlthough the project finished in 2012, we are still doing our best to help and raise awareness on the topic of animals and traffic. Unfortunately in 2014 we were not able to join any actions of transfering amphibians across roads, but we helped with materials. Just like we equiped in the past volunteers at Večna pot in Ljubljana, in Rateče, Hraše, Maribor and at Radensko polje, we donated brochures, stickers and safety vests to volunteers in Boreci, NE Slovenia

Spring - time for helping amphibians at road crossing

stopjež-radensko polje2013-2Due to warming in last two weeks the amphibians started with migration to spawning areas. All over Slovenia different actions started. Volunteers are setting up fences and help amphibians at road crossings. This is a method to reduce number of killed amphibians. Since the number of actions is increasing from year to year, the need for volunteers is growing too. If you want to join any of the actions, check website Pomagajmo žabicam, where all Slovenian actions are listed. Some most known are: Večna pot v Ljubljani, Cesta Za tremi ribniki v Mariboru, Ledavsko jezero na Goričkem, Hraše pri Smledniku, Radensko polje.

This year we helped mostly with donation of safety vests, in Radensko polje we joined setting up a fence, which took place from 16th and 17th March 2013. Currently the action is organized by association Društvo pest fižola - društvo za biološko izobraževanje. More information on the action course is available here. For the end some photos of setting up the fence.
