Amphibians are especially vulnerable participants in traffic due to their life history. Migration routes between terrestrial and aquatic habitats often lead across roads, exposing amphibians to danger of being run over. Most problematic are roadkills occurring in time of mass spring and autumn migrations that can threaten or even destroy local populations. Additionally mass roadkills make roads slippery and therefore dangerous for all participants.
